It was bound to happen

The past year has been controversial, to say the least.  Now…it is beyond “Keep Austin Weird” out of control. The following article pretty much describes what happened in this election.  I will be honest: I was not a Hillary guy, but I wasn’t a Trump guy, either.  I am happy with the outcome, though, because the “the people” spoke with a louder voice than the have since the Dewey-Truman race.  Trump is definitely a POPULIST president, and here is the truth, and proof (from a re-post by Paul Craig Roberts).

This Wasn’t an Election. It Was a Revolution.

By Daniel Greenfield, a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center

It was midnight in America. The day of the election millions Americans got up and stood in front of the Machine, the great iron wheel that had been grinding them down. They stood there even though the media told them it was useless. They took their stand even while all the chattering classes laughed and taunted them as white trash racists.

They were fathers who couldn’t feed their families anymore. They were mothers who couldn’t afford health care. They were workers whose jobs had been given to foreigners in foreign countries so that the incomes of oligarchs could rise. They were sons who didn’t see a future for themselves. They were daughters afraid of being raped by the undocumented illegals flooding into their towns. They took a deep breath and they stood.

They held up their hands and the great iron wheel stopped.

Blue America crumbled. The Blue States fell one by one. Ohio. Wisconsin. Pennsylvania. Iowa. The white working class that had been overlooked and trampled on for so long got to its feet. It rose up against its oppressors. The rest of the nation, between the West coast and the North East coast, “the fly-over zone”, rose up with it.

They fought back against their jobs being shipped overseas while their towns filled with migrants that got everything while they got nothing. They fought back against a system in which they could go to jail for a trifle while the elites could violate the law and still stroll through a presidential election.

They fought back against being told that they had to watch what they say.

They fought back against being held in contempt because they wanted to work for a living, take care of their families, and protect the sanctity of marriage.

And they won.

This wasn’t a vote. It was an uprising.

Like the ordinary men chipping away at the Berlin Wall, they tore down an unnatural thing that had towered over them. And as they watched it fall, they marveled at how weak and fragile it had always been. And how much stronger they were than they had ever known.

Who were these people? They were the neglected in the fly-over country that is the heart of America. They didn’t have university degrees, and they had never set foot in a Starbucks to pay $5 for a cup of coffee. They were the white working class. They didn’t talk right or think right. They had the wrong ideas, the wrong clothes and the ridiculous idea that they still mattered.

They were told they were wrong about everything. Illegal immigration. Black Lives Matter, but not jobs for the oppressed middle class. Manufacturing is unnecessary for an economy in which financial profits are all important. Transgendered bathrooms. Same gender marriages. Americans were supposed to bow down and surrender to a handful of perverts.

Told that the future belongs to the metrosexual dot com transgendered globalist, and not to the guy who once had a good job before the globalist corporations with Washington’s blessings sent it to China or Mexico, real Americans revolted.

White trash American couldn’t change anything, declared the pundits. But instead of adapting to the inevitable future of America’s demise, they got in their pickup trucks and drove out to vote.

And they changed everything.

Barack Hussein Obama boasted that he had changed America. And he did for the worse. A billion regulations, millions of immigrants, a hundred thousand lies and it was no longer our America.

White Trash America voted and sent Obama to Hell. They walked through him and through the Democratic Party like the wet paper bag that they are. Voters abandoned the party that had sold out the American people. More black Americans voted for Trump than voted for Romney.

The election repudiated the Obamas, the Clintons, the celebrities, and the media. Americans turned the One Percent’s world upside down.

CNN is weeping. MSNBC is wailing. ABC calls it a tantrum. NBC damns it. It wasn’t supposed to happen. The same machine that crushed the American people for six straight terms, the mass of neoconned government, globalist corporations and oligarch-financed non-profits that ran the country, was set to win. Or so they thought.

Instead the people stood in front of the Machine. They blocked it with their votes even though the media told them Hillary was the certain winner. They mailed in their absentee ballots even while Hillary Clinton was planning her fireworks victory celebration. They looked at the empty factories and barren farms. They drove through the early cold. They waited in line. They came home to their children to tell them that they had done their best for their future. They bet on America. And they won.

They are tired of the absence of affordable health care and recognize the fraud of Obamacare. They are tired of unemployment and of being lied to. They are tired of watching their sons come back in coffins so that the military/security complex could continue to loot America with their wars. They are tired of being called names and watching the theft of their country.

They understood that Trump was right. The election was their last hope, their last chance to save themselves and their country. And they did.

This election was not about who gets to use the female toilet. It wasn’t about whether it is racist to enforce the immigration laws. It wasn’t about how men, however uncouthly, express their sexual interest in women.

It was about suffering Americans, whose names no one except a server and the NSA will ever know, fighting back against their oppression. It was about the homeless woman guarding Trump’s star. It was about the betrayed Democrats searching for someone to represent them in Ohio and Pennsylvania. It was about the union men who refused to sell out their futures and vote for a Democrat who is an agent of the One Percent.

The media will never interview those men and women. We will never see their faces. But they are us and we are them. They came to the aid of a nation in peril. They did what real Americans have always done. They did the impossible.

The Tea Party Vindication

dont-tread-on-me

I came across this article today, and had to share it. I believe that our government is at the worst place it’s ever been…and not just because of the president, but because of the blight that is Washington, D.C.

I believe that it has come to the point that “we the people” have to change the situation. The congress is voted into place by US, and are supposed to do our bidding – not the other way around. But seriously, how many of you feel that the government is doing whats best for you, and not just what’s best for their pocketbook and lifestyle.

This is actually a non-partisan piece that only states the obvious, but in a much more eloquent manner than I am able to deliver.

Please read and send your comments….I’m really interested to see how others feel.

Tea Party supporters are supposed to be disheartened by how the great shutdown saga turned out. We’re back where we started, following an expense of political capital that achieved nothing, with polls showing damage to the Republican “brand.” Worse, the balance of power in our representative government has permanently shifted toward the executive branch. The legislature is now virtually powerless. Raising the debt ceiling is a hollow ritual to be performed every few months. Continuing resolutions to fund the no-budget government will continue, on automatic pilot, forever. The House will never dare exert its entirely hypothetical “power of the purse” again.

The oversight functions of the legislature aren’t looking too healthy, either. They hold hearings that never go anywhere, at which Administration officials feel no compulsion to speak honestly, if they even bother to show up. Documents demanded by House committees languish in bureaucratic dungeons for years. Every investigation is stonewalled until the media can declare it “old news.”

The short attention span of the electorate limits the shelf life of every scandal to a news cycle or two. The concept of “responsibility” is now limited to the President or one of his cabinet members intoning the magic words, “I take responsibility” after weeks of foot-dragging. No one is ever held accountable for anything. Top officials from the White House on down cheerfully admit their enormous departments are completely out of control – they learn about scandals by watching the TV news, just like you and me.

Certainly all of that is terrible and infuriating… but dispiriting to the Tea Party? Nonsense. Everything that happened over the past few weeks has been pure vindication for them.

They knew things were this bad. That’s why they got involved in politics, often for the first time in a long and full life. Any disappointment they might feel is tempered by the understanding that their task would not be easy. They’re up against a system, not a few individual politicians, or even a political party, although one of the parties is more strongly aligned with the system. No one involved in the Tea Party movement was ever under any illusions that the other party was entirely opposed to it. If only that were true.

The system has been growing larger, and more corrupt, for a very long time. Power and money have been squirreled away in the dark corners of bureaucratic mazes for decades. The system can defend itself from assault. It has many private-sector supporters, who grow very wealthy by manipulating it. There are many people on the lower end of the income scale who consider themselves beneficiaries of the system’s generosity as well. They’re not much concerned with the problems encountered by other people, or worried about fiscal crises in the years to come. Rent-seeking business interests, plus dependent citizens eager to claim what they are “entitled” to, plus a political class that cloaks its greed in the language of compassion, plus a partisan media that loves the idea of the nation’s destiny being written right outside their office windows, make up a powerful political army. The original Tea Party revolutionaries knew they faced a formidable opponent. So do their namesakes.

What is that formidable opponent saying in “victory” today? The shutdown crisis decisively ended because we were about to hit the debt ceiling. The President assured us that if we don’t borrow more money, we won’t be able to pay our existing bills – it’s one of his most frequently repeated arguments. If the federal government doesn’t borrow $3 billion or more a day, forever, the markets will panic and the economy will collapse. Our whole system is now based on rolling up gigantic amounts of debt at low, low interest rates, and we cannot consider any course of action that would jeopardize those cheap loans, or we’ll end up paying what President Obama referred to as the “Republican default tax” earlier this week.

What sane person celebrates such conditions? Why should any American taxpayer applaud the “triumph” of that philosophy? Who thinks it’s a good idea to restrict our options as a nation because we can’t afford to do anything that would make the people holding our debt leash nervous?

Throughout the shutdown, we watched the government go to war against disobedient Americans, inflicting needless inconvenience and loss of revenue through Obama’s Shutdown Theater antics. An army of federal employees appeared out of nowhere to erect barricades. Elderly war veterans were abused for having the temerity to visit an open-air memorial constructed in their honor. Some of the activities canceled during the shutdown – from air shows to popular inns and restaurants – were revenue generators, unnecessarily costing private sector owners and employees millions of dollars.

But all we heard about when the government re-opened were whoops of joy about non-essential federal employees returning to work and collecting back pay. Five years of Obama have beaten the private-sector workforce down to 1960s levels, with full-time jobs melting into a part-time slurry, but nobody in the government cares about that. They won’t be getting reinstated with back pay, unless you count unemployment benefits and food stamps.

The ruling class loves to say job creation is their top priority, but that’s obviously not true – there are dozens of priorities well ahead of that, currently including a plan to import even more citizens to compete for scarce entry-level jobs – a “reform” the ruling class prizes above almost everything else, even though it barely cracks the top ten list of issues the American electorate is concerned with.

But hey, let’s applaud the return of hundreds of thousands of expensive federal employees, many of whom we didn’t notice were missing. Some of them really weren’t literally non-essential… but many of them were. Shutting down 17 percent of the government is a crude way to trim it back, much as the sequester was. There are smarter ways to implement cuts… but the smarter ways never get implemented, do they? We are expected to celebrate the triumph of a system that has once again proved itself utterly impervious to anything but the crudest forms of discipline, and even those tend to work only temporarily. The sequester might not be around for much longer, either.

That shutdown deal was no “clean” bill, by the way. Among the other things it contained was a “gift” of $174,000 to the widow of the late Senator Frank Lautenberg. ”It’s been a tradition to pay a year’s congressional salary as a death benefit to the spouse of a lawmaker who dies in office,” the Wall Street Journal reports.

What a lovely tradition. Lautenberg was one of the richest members of Congress at the time of his death, with a net worth of over $56 million. On the other hand, the Obama Administration just kinda sorta “forgot” to pay death benefits to the families of fallen military veterans, even though Congress passed a bill to ensure it before the shutdown. They had to pass another bill to shame the Administration into action. The ruling class takes very good care of itself. No wonder most of the people plugged into such a lucrative system are ready to protect it. The Tea Party view that the suckers paying for it should be less than thrilled has only been strengthened by Shutdown Theater, which will be remembered at 2014 election rallies.

We were told we couldn’t delay restarting the government and funding everything on the statist wish list, because fiscal catastrophe could not be held at bay for another day. Funny thing – in the two days since the shutdown ended, the national debt shot up over $360 billion, exploding past $17 trillion for the very first time. According to the official figures, the debt hadn’t increased by a penny for months beforehand. It’s remarkable how those numbers dance to any tune our ruling class chooses to play.

To top it off, yesterday we heard the President who repeatedly tried to panic the stock market, to build up his negotiating leverage against Republicans, lecture us about “manufactured crisis.” When was the last Washington crisis that wasn’t manufactured, or at least given some enhancements and upgrades before it rolled off the political production line?

Remember how President Obama said we had to surrender control of our health care because over 50 million people were dying for want of health insurance? Where did all those people go? Because they sure as hell aren’t rushing to sign up for ObamaCare. And the feeble capabilities of the system Obama blew hundreds of millions of dollars creating suggest he never really expected anything close to such demand.

The President has also been taunting his opponents that they need to “win some elections” if they want to bring his irresponsible and wasteful policies to heel… as if the House and Senate Republicans who stood up against the ObamaCare disaster hadn’t won elections, as if Republicans didn’t take the House in a historic 2010 victory fueled by Tea Party enthusiasm. That’s an offense against the very concept of representative government, which is not defined as electing a despot every four years and obeying his commands until the next opportunity to replace him arises. It’s also not supposed to be necessary to win veto-proof super-majorities in order to make ourselves heard.

All of this vindicates the critique of kamikaze Big Government that brought the Tea Party together in the first place. We’re being told we have to accept all sorts of things we never voted for. We’re told we cannot change course – we don’t even get to vote on major aspects of our national destiny any more, let alone pursue our own ambitions. The dead hand of the past guides us through programs that cannot be repealed, mandates that cannot be resisted, and a government that can’t be scaled back insulting us as deadbeats if we hesitate to pay its bills.

It doesn’t matter if its big plans are unmitigated disasters, sold with false claims and empty promises, cobbled together by committee and farmed out to cronies. One of the major reasons ObamaCare’s launch has been such a disaster is that its implementation was deliberately held off until the last possible minute, with warnings of catastrophe suppressed, to avoid embarrassment during the 2012 election. The Healthcare.gov website is a paralyzed mass of sloppy code that was deliberately designed not to let you shop for insurance plans unless it could harvest enough information to calculate your middle-class welfare subsidies and conceal the true cost of your purchase.

The whole thing is a scam, top to bottom… but your complaints fall on deaf ears, your participation is required by law, and you may rest assured that the software to administer your unconstitutional tax/penalty for non-compliance will work flawlessly. No delays, no refunds, no accountability, no escape. It’s all the “settled law of the land,” unlike far older laws passed under much less dubious circumstances, which the ruling class constantly ignores.

We’re always told not to trust “lobbyists” and “special interests” who use political influence for selfish ends. Well, everyone who profits from this bloated, dangerously underfunded, spendthrift government is acting selfishly when they protect it, while senators and representatives with a sincere desire for reform would be depriving themselves of money and power by succeeding.

The shutdown didn’t bring the reforms we were hoping for, but at least people did stand up this time. It wasn’t just a bunch of empty talk and promises to put up a bit of resistance during the next budget battle, or maybe the one after that, or perhaps a few elections from now. There is a significant element of the current political class that was willing to stick to their guns, make some difficult votes, take some heat, and stand by their principles even after failing to get what they wanted. It’s too bad there aren’t more of them… but maybe there could be. It takes a lot of hard work, organization, spirit, and time to generate a political class willing to vote against its own collective interests, by reducing its power. That sounds more like a challenge than cause for despair.

2012…. Are You Scared, Yet?

OK, folks… it’s here. The dreaded year 2012.  So what’s it going to bring? Any ideas out there?

I personally think there are going to be some BIG changes.

First of all, to my heath.  (for the better, at the cost of being puny for several months)  I start my new Triple component chemo this week, and we are all hoping and praying that it will be the last attack on the Hep C virus I have been plagued with for the past decade.

Secondly, this country HAS to change course if we are to remain the “home of the Brave and the land of the FREE”. It comesn to some deep assessment of personal liberties (or lack thereof) and a determination by each individual to do the right thing for themselves, their family and their country.  We have to quit selecting leaders based on Hollywood Marketing and Slick Delivery of doublespeak. This is not about Democrats vs Republicans… rather it is about RIGHT and WRONG.  It is about our Constitution. It is about Freedom, (especially freedom OF religion… not freedom FROM religion). It is about JOBS (not government jobs) It is about securing our borders (from ILLEGAL immigration, not from LEGAL immigration). It is about CAPITALISM and the right of EVERY human to grow to their fullest potential…not to be held as a slave to big government programs. These changes are about BEING AMERICANS!  States rights… small federal government with LIMITED power.  After all, they work for US… we can Hire and Fire at will.  We have to quit being SHEEPLE and do our duty.  That means study the situation, study the candidates (and incumbents) and change our employees as need by VOTING!!!

I also foresee a great year in that I’m about 3.5 months from meeting my first grandson! I am really pumped up about this! Looks like I will be spending a lot of time in Austin.  It’s OK.  Waylon needs to be with his Papa! A lot!

Is it 2012, yet?

I have been recovering from my surgery, and not writing, as you have noticed. I HAVE been watching a lot of TV, however, and it seems the clicker always seems to click to a news channel (or seven). I tell you, folks, its getting extremely frustrating to me to watch and hear the BS (that’s “bacon sandwich” for those of you who don’t know) that dribbles across the airwaves, constantly.

First, there are the shenanigans from the criminals in the Congress, White House and all things DC. If I make it another day without exploding, I will be surprised.  Solyndra, bailout #3, stock market, jobs bill, Charlie Rangel’s portrait on the wall of the congressional building (at the bargain basement price of 65k0 not eleven months after his censure on eleven counts of misconduct. My, ain’t we got fun!?

Then, we have 9 GOP candidates fighting among themselves (for our entertainment, presumably) and this has to go on HOW much longer?

Oh, and just for an added bonus, there is a school bus sized piece of “space junk”, weighing in at about 6 tons, plummeting to earth sometime this evening.  The sky really IS falling!

It occurs to me that if one is ignorant, being led to slaughter is so much more relaxing….

On a happier note, however, my stitches come out on Monday, AND, I get my new “EARS”! I’m also about 4 pounds from my “ideal” weight.  So I think I’ll just float on those things for another week or so.

The gangsters can destroy the world without me!

My policy (hasn't worked so far)

Older and Badder

As I lay in my hospital bed, awaiting surgery, I was reading an email from my mother (a long time Democrat). She sent a piece that I thought was very interesting.  I lived most of the things that are mentioned in it (not the icebox, or the hand cranked cars—though I have hand cranked some tractors), and it makes me realize, even more intensely, how much I love this country, and how I refuse to let it go down in the flames of socialism. Please read and enjoy, and by all means, drive, ride or use your walker  to get to the polls on election day 2012 and help the Grey Haired Brigade take this country back and make it the Land of the Free!

Grey-Haired Brigade

They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. Some of us are “Baby Boomers” getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time. We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were.We have worked hard, raised our children, worshipped our God and grown old together. Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.

In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to leadAmericainto the technological age. Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience. We remember the days of telephone party-lines, 25 cent gasoline, and milk and ice being delivered to our homes. For those of you who don’t know what an icebox is, today they are electric and referred to as refrigerators. A few even remember when cars were started with a crank. Yes, we lived those days.

We are probably considered old fashioned and out-dated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off. We won World War II, fought in Korea andViet Nam. We can quote The Pledge of Allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so. We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield. We didn’t fight for the Socialist States ofAmerica, we fought for the “Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave.” We wore different uniforms but carried the same flag. We know the words to the Star Spangled Banner ,America, andAmericathe Beautiful by heart, and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing. We have lived what many of you have only read about in history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America.

Yes, we are old and slow these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and now we are going to save it. It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us. We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep. There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent.

It was the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic Congress.

You fell for the “Hope and Change” which in reality was nothing but “Hype and Lies.” You have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face, and have found you don’t like it after all. You make a lot of noise, but most are all too interested in their careers or “Climbing the Social Ladder” to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting. Many of those who fell for the “Great Lie” in 2008 are now having buyer’s remorse. With all the education we gave you, you didn’t have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the ‘Kool-Aid.’ Now you’re paying the price and complaining about it. No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom. This is what you voted for and this is what you got. We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house.

Well, don’t worry youngsters, the Grey Haired Brigade is here, and in 2012 we are going to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like but we get where we’re going, and in 2012 we’re going to the polls by the millions. This land does not belong to the man in the White House nor to the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. It belongs to “We the People” and “We the People” plan to reclaim our land and our freedom. We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren. So the next time you have the chance to say the Pledge of Allegiance, Stand up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country, and thank God for the old geezers of the “Grey-Haired Brigade.”

~Author, Anonymous

Uhhh…. I forgot.

I have been noticeably absent. My body took a vacation, and my mind took a longer one. I’m back, now. Have some personal issues to deal with (abdominal hernia surgery on Tuesday morning, hopefully the last one… because they are painful as hell to recover from).

However, I have not let the BS (bacon sandwich) get past me.

Like the JOBS report this week.  ZERO growth rate! ZERO!

CNBC reported that “It was the first time since World War II that the economy had precisely net zero jobs created for a month.”

It took the Republican National Committee exactly 94 minutes to coin a new, demeaning title for Barack Obama: President Zero.

Zero

Way to go, President Zero!

In an email to reporters, the R.N.C. took note of the worst job report in nearly a year, saying that there has been “two and a half years of Obamanomics and nothing to show for it.”

The monthly report, which showed a 17,000-job gain among private employers but no growth overall, provides Mr. Obama’s Republican rivals with the perfect opportunity to criticize him as they prepare to gather for another nationally-televised debate next week.

And it gives Mr. Obama an even more gloomy backdrop for the jobs speech he will give to a joint session of Congress next Thursday. In the speech, Mr. Obama is expected to call for a renewed national effort to put people back to work and trim the nation’s deficit.

So what does the administration have to say about all of this?

President Zero’s Labor Secretary Hilda Solis told a cable news anchor this morning: “I do feel like we’re going in the right direction…”

Oh yeah? And exactly WHAT direction is that? Socialism? Marxism? Sharia Law? Or just off the cliff?!?!

And on another note, regarding the STIMULUS and GREEN ENERGY:

House investigators said they have uncovered evidence that White House officials became personally involved in an Energy Department review of a hot-button $535 million loan guarantee to the now-failed California solar company Solyndra.

The allegation surfaced in a letter House Energy Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-Mich.) sent to the White House Thursday night, saying he planned to accelerate efforts to understand an investment deal that may have left taxpayers out half a billion dollars.

“We have learned from our investigation that White House officials monitored Solyndra’s application and communicated with [Department of Energy] and Office of Management and Budget officials during the course of their review,” the letter says.

Thursday’s letter, which calls on the White House to turn over correspondence between administration officials, Solyndra and its investors, presents the most pointed suggestion that the White House had direct involvement in the financing.

“How did this company, without maybe the best economic plan, all of a sudden get to the head of the line?” Upton told ABC News in an interview this week. “We want to know who made this decision … and we’re not going to stop until we get those answers.”

But will they ever really get those answers. Will they even try?  And if they get the answers, what will the do with them. I think that 90% of the guys in congress are spineless weasels who don’t have the cojones to stand up for what’s RIGHT. They are to worried about pleasing there respective parties, and securing there next campaign monies and seat.

“I’m tired
Lawd I’m so tired….”

Vote the constitution! Read the annotated (explained) version here!

See you in a week or so…

Greetings from the beach!

I am in sunny, slow moving, Pawley’s Island SC for a visit with my inlaws.  I thought I might escape the constant drone of political trash that I’ve been living with.  You know… go on vacation, hang out at the beach, go boating, leave the PC on “hibernate”, turn the phone off, etc.

It did not happen that way. My mom, pop, and brother in law are all very involved in following the stock market and politics in general.  So I have stayed up to date via newspapers and Direct TV.

Watching Wall Street go crazy was scary, but awesome. All that STIMULUS really has paid off, huh? I had predicted that gold would hit 2K within a week, and it almost did! I was glad to see the market stabilize, some, and the price of gold level off at around $1750/oz.

There are the pundits, and some Senators, saying that the downgrade is the fault of the Tea Party (??!!). Now the Washington mainstream is placing its faith in the formation of the Super Committee: Republicans who have been told to “compromise”,  Democrats who want to tax, and one Mr. Clyburn who wants to close the wealth gap (guess how?  Yep… redistribution)

So, do you think anything GOOD can come of this? I rather doubt it.

On the other hand, I did watch the Iowa debates, and I was NOT impressed by ANY of them.  (Is it 2008 all over again?) Glad to hear that Rick Perry finally threw his hat in, officially, not just because I’m a Texan, but because he is a leader and a fighter, with strong moral convictions and a true belief in a smaller central government.  Go Rick!

I am heading up to Indianapolis on Thursday for a few days with my Hoosier Family. I am really looking forward to it.  I will head home to Houston on 8/23, and hopefully have my last surgical procedure the first week of September.

I’ll post again around the 28th.

Stay RIGHT, people. Stay RIGHT!

I gotta pass it on…

Think about this…

From Eric Erickson:

If you’ve seen the recent Harry Potter or watched any of a host of exorcism movies, you know that right before the demon dies, he lashes out most brutally and fearfully to try to get you to give up.

We’re seeing the demon of out of control government lashing out in spectacular fashion now before House Republicans kill it.

In one last spectacular bout, the White House and Congressional leaders are summoning Standards & Poor to Congress to scare the beejezus out of House Republican Freshman. They are bringing in the Grim Reaper to proclaim death if a deal is not reached.

House Republicans should first note that S&P did not see the financial crisis come and also note that the White House and Congressional leaders did the exact same thing on TARP.

Then House Republicans need to open their eyes, laugh at death, and finish the exorcism.

They are being asked by their leadership and the White House to embrace one of two poisons:

The first poison, McConnell’s Pontius Pilate Act, would let the President drive up debt by $2 trillion without any cuts.

The second poison, the Gang of 6′ Gangrene, would drive up debt by $2 trillion, not make cuts of $3.5 trillion for ten years and even then depend on subsequent Congresses actually agreeing to those cuts, and also foist on the American public the largest tax hike in American history while being dishonest enough to call it a tax cut.

Poison kills. And either of these poisons, despite what the S&P or any politician may say, will kill the long term prospects of this Republic being financially solvent.

Why?

Because the House GOP is performing an exorcism on government spending. It has the only plan that can pass by August 2, 2011, that cuts spending, caps future spending, and balances the budget. It has the only long term plan that meets the credit reporting agencies’ demands without relying on future agreements to do things Congress has never had the will do to.

The Senate and White House do not want to stop spending. They do not want to be restrained.

So they’ll bring in the S&P, claim disaster, beg for live, and hope the GOP in the House gives up the fight and stops the exorcism before the demon is driven out.

House Republicans: Hold the freaking line. They are trying to scare the crap out of you to prevent you from saving the Republic. Do you really believe the same people and the same bipartisan deals that got us to $14 trillion in debt will somehow get us out of it?

Hold the line.

Sincerely yours,

Followup on the Constitution

My Love of Country Comes Over Me…

On this day, 150 years ago, Union and Confederate forces clashed
at what would be known as the First Battle of Bull Run in the North
and the First Battle of Manassas in the South. The Confederates defeated the larger but more disorganized Union army.July 21, 1861

Yesterday, I asked that you read the US Constitution and Bill of Rights.  I said that it is important that you understand these documents, because they ARE the law of the land, and they are being deformed before your very eyes.  This is not new, but has been taking place since 1861. We have just become numb to the fact that we are no longer a democratic republic, that our rights are being usurped and that all the branches of the government are in abject failure of the jobs entrusted to them. I share this article with you. Then ask you to compare what is stated in this piece – with what the Constitution and Bill of Rights actually SAY.

The Imperial President
July 18, 2011 by Bob Livingston

Barack Obama has become the Imperial President.

Having just shed the shackles of monarchy, the Founding Fathers were loath to establish a government with an all-powerful chief executive. To prevent it, they created a government divided into three equal branches. Their idea was that each branch would check the other in order to limit government’s growth.

But the anti-Federalist Cato, thought to be New York Governor George Clinton, warned in Letter V to the citizens of New York that the compact under consideration did not provide strong enough checks and balances. He wrote:

Before the existence of express political compacts it was reasonably implied that the magistrate should govern with wisdom and Justice, but mere implication was too feeble to restrain the unbridled ambition of a bad man, or afford security against negligence, cruelty, or any other defect of mind. It is alledged that the opinions and manners of the people of America, are capable to resist and prevent an extension of prerogative or oppression; but you must recollect that opinion and manners are mutable, and may not always be a permanent obstruction against the encroachments of government; that the progress of a commercial society begets luxury, the parent of inequality, the foe to virtue, and the enemy to restraint; and that ambition and voluptuousness aided by flattery, will teach magistrates, where limits are not explicitly fixed to have separate and distinct interests from the people, besides it will not be denied that government assimilates the manners and opinions of the community to it. Therefore, a general presumption that rulers will govern well is not a sufficient security. You are then under a sacred obligation to provide for the safety of your posterity, and would you now basely desert their interests, when by a small share of prudence you may transmit to them a beautiful political patrimony, that will prevent the necessity of their travelling through seas of blood to obtain that, which your wisdom might have secured: It is a duty you owe likewise to your own reputation, for you have a great name to lose; you are characterised as cautious, prudent and jealous in politics; whence is it therefore, that you are about to precipitate yourselves into a sea of uncertainty, and adopt a system so vague, and which has discarded so many of your valuable rights. Is it because you do not believe that an American can be a tyrant? If this be the case you rest on a weak basis; Americans are like other men in similar situations, when the manners and opinions of the community are changed by the causes I mentioned before, and your political compact inexplicit, your posterity will find that great power connected with ambition, luxury, and flattery, will as readily produce a Caesar, Caligula, Nero, and Domitian in America, as the same causes did in the Roman empire.

Sadly, it turns out he was correct. Congress has abdicated its responsibility, the Federal judiciary has become the oligarchy Thomas Jefferson warned about, and the result is we now have an imperial Presidency.

The imperial Presidency has its roots in 1861 and Abraham Lincoln, who had no regard for the Constitution and the rule of law.

The Southern States had every right to secede under the Constitution. In his inaugural address, President Thomas Jefferson said, “If there be any among us who would wish to dissolve this Union or to change its republican form, let them stand undisturbed as monuments of the safety with which error of opinion may be tolerated where reason is left free to combat it.”

As Judge Andrew P. Napolitano states in his book, The Constitution in Exile, in a later speech Jefferson, discussing the possibility of States seceding, said, “God bless them both and keep them in the union if it be for their good, but separate them if it be better.”

“Lincoln’s act of sending troops to Virginia triggered the armed conflict that became the Civil War,” Napolitano writes. “He did so under the premise that war was necessary to preserve the union. But the truth is that Lincoln had several other options to exhaust before resorting to warfare — and that’s only after we observe that the Southern states had the right to secede from the Union if they wished to do so.”

During the period from April 12, 1861 — when first engagement of the Civil War took place — until his death April 14, 1865, Lincoln ordered the murder of civilians, declared martial law, shut down convening State legislatures, arrested State politicians and journalists, closed newspapers, suspended habeas corpus, seized vast amounts of property without compensating the owners, imprisoned Northern citizens without trial, conducted a war without Congressional approval, ignored orders of the Supreme Court, consented in — and encouraged — the commission of war crimes by his generals, and oversaw the illegal creation of the State of West Virginia.

Even Lincoln historian apologists accuse Lincoln of being a dictator. They just seem to believe he was a “good” dictator because they support what he did during his dictatorship. But tyranny is tyranny.

“Lincoln took all of these actions in the name of preserving (emphasis in original) constitutional government. It’s hard to imagine something more tyrannical than a central government that suppresses life, speech, and political expression with such drastic measures,” Napolitano writes.

Lincoln’s actions effectively ended the prospect of nullification and gutted the 10th Amendment. And ever since Lincoln got away with trampling the Constitution, Presidents, Congresses and Federal judges have been writing laws and issuing edicts and orders in violation of the Constitution and its enumerated powers. In other words, they do what they want, ignoring the rule of law.

The three branches, envisioned by the Founders as a set of checks against one another, became partners in crime. They consolidated their power over those they governed and set about entrenching themselves and enriching themselves, their political parties and their cronies.

Following the events of 9/11, Congress granted President George W. Bush sweeping powers to make war on terrorists and imprison Americans without trail. Like Lincoln, Bush suspended habeas corpus. Congress also passed the liberty-crushing USA Patriot Act that gave law enforcement agencies broad powers to eavesdrop, search and surveil Americans.

As the economy crashed in 2008, Bush — under the guise of “saving” the economy — looted the Treasury to make sure his Treasury Secretary’s old firm, Goldman Sachs, made out like a bandit. It turns out all the big banksters, both domestic and foreign, got a slice of that pie. Congress helped and Judiciary sat on its hands and did nothing.

But as has been the case since his inauguration, whatever Bush did, Obama has doubled down. He has become the Imperial President.

Obama has appointed dozens of czars without the consent of Congress. These czars set policy for Obama’s regulatory agencies — the alphabet soup government agencies that create problems through regulation and then pass more regulations to solve the regulatory problems they created. These agencies are answerable to no one and nothing. Obama’s agenda of killing jobs, suppressing innovation and supporting unviable “green” technologies is their lone goal.

Sadly, not only does Congress not care, it is working posthaste to make it easier for the President to avoid Congress altogether. The Senate, by a roll call vote of 79-20, last week passed the President Appointment Efficiency and Streamlining Act of 2011. It’s set to go before the House soon. The bill’s aim is to eliminate Senate confirmation of 200 of the roughly 1,400 Presidential appointments that fall under Article II, Section 2, according to The Washington Examiner.

Then last week, Senator Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) floated the harebrained notion to give the President the authority to raise the debt ceiling on his own.

So it’s not enough that the President just ignores Congress, Congress has decided it wants to give the President carte blanche to ignore it even further.

Meanwhile, Obama morphs into more of a Third World-style dictator every day. Recognizing that the Federal government was abdicating its responsibility to control the border and guarantee every State a republican form of government, Arizona passed a comprehensive immigration law that virtually mirrored Federal law. The Obama Administration sued Arizona.

As the Texas Legislature grew close to passing a law that would make it a crime for agents of the Transportation Security Administration to fondle airline passengers and ogle their naked photographs, the Obama inJustice Department threatened to establish a no-fly zone over the State. This is the same inJustice Department that ignored voter intimidation by members of the New Black Panthers Party at Pennsylvania polling stations during the 2008 elections — charges the accused didn’t even bother to contest.

Other States that have passed sovereignty laws on issues from medical marijuana to funding abortions to intrastate ammunition and gun sales — oops, there’s the fallout from the first tyrant President’s actions — have also faced lawsuit and intimidation at the hands of the Mafia-style Federal government.

Inexplicably, unions give unqualified support to Obama even as he kicks them in the teeth while playing the liberal class-warfare game. Yachts and airplanes are symbols of the rich to Obama, so he denounces yachts and airplanes and threatens to change the tax code so that the rich can’t buy new yachts and airplanes. Who makes yachts and airplanes? Laborers and craftsman — many of them union members — who will be out of work by the thousands when the rich stop buying yachts and airplanes. So, too, will the engineers, marketing people, accountants, secretaries and all the others who are part of that industry, as will those who work in ancillary industries.

Not content with kicking the yacht and airplane laborers and craftsmen to the curb, Obama also attacks the oil and coal industries. Already, he’s ignored a court order to approve Gulf drilling. So tens of thousands of oil workers remain idle, oil and gas prices rise and thousands upon thousands of people struggling to get by are forced to struggle even harder. His Environmental Protection Agency has announced new rules which will kill coal-mining jobs by the thousands.

But for Obama, that’s OK because Americans are stupid. We cling to our guns and religion, he says. His dismally dimwitted Presidential ventriloquist doll Jay Carney said in a recent press conference that to most Americans, the term debt ceiling “sounds like gobbledygook.”

In another press conference, Carney dismissed a poll of a majority of the public saying the debt limit shouldn’t be raised by arguing that most people “don’t have a lot of time to focus on what is a debt ceiling.” And then he took a swipe at the press corps: “I mean, honestly, did anyone in this room, before they had to cover issues like this, have any idea what a debt ceiling was?”

Obama political hack David Plouffe said: “The average American does not view the economy through the prism of GDP or unemployment rates or even monthly jobs numbers. People won’t vote based on the unemployment rate, they’re going to vote based on: ‘How do I feel about my own situation? Do I believe the president makes decisions based on me and my family?’”

When confronted by a reporter with the poll numbers showing 69 percent of Americans oppose raising the debt limit, Obama responded: “Well, let me distinguish between professional politicians and the public at large. The public is not paying close attention to the ins and outs of how a Treasury option goes. They shouldn’t. They’re worrying about their family; they’re worrying about their jobs; they’re worrying about their neighborhood. They’ve got a lot of other things on their plate. We’re paid to worry about it. I think, depending on how you phrase the question, if you said to the American people, is it a good idea for the United States not to pay its bills and potentially create another recession that could throw millions of more people out of work, I feel pretty confident I can get a majority on my side on that one.”

Since you’re not paying attention, Obama says you can just eat cake… or “peas.”

Ignoring the rule of law, Obama has — with Congressional complicity — turned the natural born citizen qualification for the President on its ear. He’s probably committed a felony or two by releasing a forged document that he claims is a birth certificate and by using a fraudulent Social Security number.

With a wink and a nod to Sarah Brady, Obama promised to work behind the scenes to pass stronger anti-gun legislation. He sat back while his appointee to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives — and maybe even his Attorney General — pushed guns across the Mexican border. Then, he complained that American weapons were crossing the border and proposed marking that troubling 2nd Amendment off the Bill of Rights to stop it.

Seeking — successfully it turns out — to cow Republicans resisting raising taxes to seal a deal to raise the debt ceiling, Obama threatens to withhold Social Security checks. It’s a typical political ploy to threaten to cause the most pain on the largest number of people in order to get your way.

He lies with impunity, disregards the Constitution, ignores the laws he doesn’t agree with, does what he wishes, and has started three unConstitutional wars — two more than Bush started.

And Congress? Save for a few lone voices they stand by and pledge fealty to the Imperial Presidency.
